목사의 소명을 확인할 수 있는 5개 기준

오늘 아침에 차를 타고 오며 우연히 맥아더 목사님의 에베소서 강해를 들었습니다.

이 영상의 39분 47초 이후에는 목회 사역을 하려는 사람들의 소명을 확인할 수 있는 5개 기준이 나옵니다.

목회자가 되려는 분들이 고려해 보면 좋을 것입니다  

간단하게 요약하면 다음과 같습니다.

1. 첫째는 내부적 욕구입니다. 즉, 강한 욕구입니다. 바울은 사역의 일을 갈망하는 것에 대해 이야기합니다. 강한 내적 욕구, 이 일을 안 하면 살 수 없다는 영혼의 불안감; 너무 강해서 다른 모든 욕망을 배제하는 욕망이 있어야 합니다.

2. 둘째, 강력한 외부의 격려입니다. 즉, 주변에 아는 사람들이 “형제님은 이거를 꼭 해야 돼요. 그리스도를 전파해야 합니다. 사역을 해야 합니다.”

3. 셋째, 다른 사람에 대한 사랑의 관심입니다. 왜냐하면 당신은 다른 사람을 위해 자신을 내어주는 데 평생을 바칠 것이기 때문입니다. 당신에게 주어진 은혜의 선물은 그들을 위한 것이기 때문입니다. 그러므로 강한 내적 욕구, 강한 외적 격려, 그리고 다른 사람에 대한 사랑의 관심으로 정의되어야 합니다. 자신의 영광과 위대함을 위해 자신을 홍보하기 위해 참석하는 목회적 리더십을 가진 사람들에게는 이것이 종종 누락됩니다.

4. 넷째 원칙이 있는데, 저는 이것이 매우 중요하다고 생각합니다. 하나님의 말씀을 알고 말하는 데는 압도적인 압박이 있고, 하나님의 말씀을 알고 말하는 데는 압도적인 압박이 있습니다. 마음속의 강한 열망, 외부 사람들의 강한 격려, 다른 사람들을 위해 자신의 생명을 바치려는 사랑의 관심, 그리고 하나님의 말씀을 알고 말하려는 압도적인 압박이 있습니다.

5. 다섯째, 교회가 확증해 주어야 합니다. 이것은 로이드 존스도 동일하게 말하는 점입니다. 당신은 사건이나 당신이 들은 메시지, 설교나 당신이 읽고 있는 책, 또는 하나님의 영이 당신의 마음을 감동시킨 어느 순간이 있었고, 어떤 면에서는 하늘이 당신을 감동시켰다고 느낄 수도 있습니다. 그것이 사실이 아니라는 말은 아니지만, 이것(교회의 확증)이 이 소명을 받아들이는 사람에게 표시가 되어야 하는 사항이라고 말하고 있습니다. 그것은 하늘의 부르심입니다. 그리고 바울은 사역자가 되었습니다. 

Now look, I know we’re talking about an apostle, but the principle is nonetheless the same. If you’re going to engage in this, of all tasks, you need to have a heavenly calling. And so the immediate question comes, “If I don’t have a Damascus Road experience, how do I know if I have a heavenly calling?” And I would suggest briefly there are five things you need to know to ascertain that you have a heavenly calling.

1. Number one is internal: a strong desire. Paul talks about desiring the work of the ministry. A strong internal desire, a restlessness in your soul; a desire that’s so strong that it excludes all other desires.

2. Secondly, a strong external encouragement. In other words, there are people around you that know you that are pressing upon you and saying, “You need to do this. You need to preach Christ. You need to be in ministry.”

3. Thirdly, a loving concern for others, because you’re going to spend your entire life giving yourself away for other people, because the grace gift that’s given to you is for them. So a strong internal desire, strong external encouragement, and you have to be defined by a loving concern for others. That often is missing among people in pastoral leadership, who are there because they want to promote themselves for their own glory, grandeur.

4. There’s a fourth principle, and I think this is very important: an overwhelming constraint to know and speak the Word of God, an overwhelming constraint to know and speak the Word of God. Strong desire in the heart, strong encouragement from those outside, loving concern to give your life for others, and an overwhelming constraint to know and speak the Word of God.

5. And fifthly, confirmation by the church. Confirmation, like Paul said to Timothy, “You were confirmed in this ministry by the laying on of the hands of the elders of the church.” I mean, you may have a more unique call to ministry. You may feel like there was an incident or a message you heard, or a sermon or a book you were reading, or some moment in time when the Spirit of God prompted your heart, and you felt that in some ways heaven had touched you. I’m not saying that’s not true, but I am saying these are the things that need to mark someone who steps into this calling. It is a heavenly calling. And Paul was made a minister; and I read you three times where he says that, and then he says, “If I don’t preach, I’m under a curse.” You need to feel that kind of constraint.
